ACT Curriculum Framework

DanceKids programs are designed to encourage children to further their understanding of the world around them and to give them an improved grasp of a variety of natural processes and cultural interactions.  In doing this, one of DanceKids’ aims is to aid you in your classroom by incorporating components of the current ACT Curriculum framework into our programs.  Below is a breakdown of the Essential Learning Achievements which all of our themes cover and underneath is a breakdown of the ELA’s specific to each theme.

Essential Learning Achievements Common to All Themes

 

Major Essential Learning Achievement covered in this unit ELA 19 The student understands and applies scientific knowledge. Students have opportunities to understand and learn about:

 19.EC.6- Obvious features of a variety of plants and animals.

19.EC.9- Some of the ways in which living things depend on their environment and each other (e.g. basic needs for survival).

19.EC.11 – Some of the ways in which living things depend on the Earth (e.g. soil, water, air) and are affected by its changes.

15EC4:  Features of other cultures.

15LC1: Diverse cultural practices and lifestyles and how they compare with their own (e.g. language, religion, food, dress, celebrations, rituals, traditions, family relationships, work, leisure, education) through a range of experiences and media (e.g. stories, documentaries, visual art, songs, dance, music, games, drama performances, language study).

15LC3: How and why people celebrate cultural events in different ways according to their religion, culture, race or location (e.g. new year, religious festivals).

12EC7:  Ways to protect themselves from the sun and when near water (eg. Water safety awareness).
