Making Music

In this unique theme, we replicate the music of frogs, crickets, cassowaries, birds, rain and trees with the aid of costumes and through the use of percussion instruments ranging from homemade pieces to instruments from other countries.

The children are transposed into the natural world as they learn how music is employed to evoke emotion in storytelling. We use interactive exercises to examine how the rhythm, pitch and timing of a piece of music are matched to visual cues in our heads. For example, as the pitch of an instrument gets higher, we associate that with an increase in height in the real world.

This program is aligned with both the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework.
